Project description
The ASTRA Bridge, a mobile construction bridge, was deployed between April and August 2024 on the A1 highway. The unique design of the bridge allowed construction work to be carried out without a full road closure. As a result, around 4.5 million vehicles were able to pass over the bridge, keeping traffic flow largely uninterrupted.
During the construction phase, our Citytrailer signal trailer ensured optimal traffic management and information delivery for road users. The intelligent system allowed for real-time transmission of information regarding current travel times. Sensors along the route collected relevant data, which was then communicated to drivers via the Citytrailer.
The entire system was fully automated but could also be manually controlled from the ASTRA headquarters if needed to quickly respond to changing traffic conditions. This not only ensured efficient traffic management but also allowed for quick adjustments in real-time information sharing.
